  1. Answer:

A trapezium, also known as a trapezoid, is a quadrilateral in which a pair of sides are parallel, but the other pair of opposite sides are non-parallel. The area of a trapezium is computed with the following formula: Area = 1 2 × Sum of parallel sides × Distance between them .

1/2 x sum of parallel sides x height

  2. Answer :

    • [tex] \tiny{=} \small \: \bf\frac{1}{2} \times (a + b) \times h[/tex]

    Explanation :

    • Trapezium = ½ ( Sum of the parallel sides ) × ( Perpendicular distance between parallel sides ).
    • = ½ × ( a + b ) × h

    Diagram :

    [ In above attachment ]

    • ½ of trapezium × [ side ( a ) + side ( b ) ] × height ( h ).

    Example :

    Question :

    • The area of a trapezium is 200 sq. m. The smaller of the two parallel sides is of length 20 m. and the perpendicular distance between them is 8 m. Find the length of the other parallel side.

    Answer :

    • 30 m

    Given :

    • Area of trapezium = 200 sq.m
    • Smaller parrallel side = 20 m
    • Perpendicular distance = 8 m

    To Find :

    • Find the length of the other parrallel side ?

    Solution :

Let the length of other parallel side =b

    Heigth (h) = 8 m

Area of the trapezium = 200 sq. m

    Therefore, ½ × (a + b) × h = 200

    • ½ × (20 + b) × 8 = 200
    • 4 × (20 + b) = 200
    • 20 + b = 50
    • b= 50 – 20
    • b = 30
    • Therefore, length of the other side
    • = 30 m
