  1. The concentration of hydroxide ions increases as bases dissolve in water. With the increase in the concentration on OH- ions, the pH also increases, thus, strengthening the basic nature of the solution.

  2. Answer:

the basic nature of the solution increases. that is the ph of the solution also increases.a ph above 7 is basic and a ph below 7 is acidic

Explanation: according to the defenition of acids and bases by arrhenius(pls forgive if there is spelling error) an acid is something that can liberate H+ ions in an aq solution.the max number of H+ ions an acid molecule can donate is termed as the basicity of the acid. for example HCl has a basicity of 1 and HNO3 has a basicity of 1.the hydrogen atoms/ions liberated is found as an OH group in acid molecule.

in case of bases a base is something that can liberate OH – ions in an aq solution. The max number of OH- ions a base molecule can liberate is temed as its acidity.

for example NaOH has an acidity of 1 and Ca(OH)2 has a basicity of 2
