    Let us assume the distance between starting point and destination is D.

    car A will take D/40 hours and car B will take D/55 hours.

    As per given condition D/55=D/40-2 .

    or D/40-D/55=2

    or 55D-40D=2200

    or 15D=2200

    Hence D=146.666 Km
