  1. now let us assume that in that oxide *per molecule* there are ‘x’ atoms of nitrogen and ‘y’ atoms of oxygen then molecular weigh is given by :

    X×14 + Y×16 [ since atomic weigh of nitrogen is 14 and that of oxygen is 16]

    now according to question molecualr weigh is 46 =>

    14x +16y = 46

    according to hit and trial method,

    X =1 and Y=2

    => chemical formulae of compound was NO2

    => total number of electrons in that compound is :

    7(from nitrogen) + 2×8(from two atom of oxygen)

    =7 + 16

    =23.
