    The amount of water in tank = 500 L

    Rate of speed of leaking water = 5L/min

    (a) What you have to do is check how many times 5L is 500L,

    that means, 500/5 = 100

    That means, it is going to take 100 minutes, 1 hour 40 minutes for the tank to be empty.

    (b) Here, rate of speed of leak = 10L/5 min = 2L/min

    Same concept here too, divide 500 by 2 = 500/2 = 250

    Therefore in second case it takes 250 minutes, that is 4 hours and 10 minutes for it to leak out completely.
