  1. Answer:

    Explanation: a) 0.0833 m/sec² , b) 3.75 km

    The time taken by the car to reach 90 km/hr. from rest to 5 minutes.

    Given,

    t = 5 min = 5 x 60 = 300 sec

    final velocity v = 90 km/ hr = 90 x 1000/3600 m/sec = 25 m/sec

    initial velocity u = 0

    a) we know v = u + a t where a is the acceleration.

    so we can calculate acceleration as, a = (v-u) / t

    or, a = (25-0)/300 m/sec² = 0.0833 m/sec².

    b) Let the distance covered by the car is s,

    so we have the formula: s = ut + 1/2 a t²

    or, s = 0 x 300 + 1/2 x 0.0833 x (300)²

    s = 3750 m = 3.75 km.
