   Solution:-

   Let the present age bebe:-

   • Ram = 5x
   • Rahim = 7x
   • Robert = 8x

   Therefore, six years ago their ages be:-

   • Ram = 5x – 6
   • Rahim = 7x – 6
   • Robert = 8x – 6

   Now, according to the question:-

   • (5x – 6)+(7x – 6)+(8x – 6) = 42
   • 5x + 6x + 7x – 6 – 6 – 6 = 42
   • 20x – 18 = 42
   • 20x = 42 + 18
   • 20x = 60
   • x = 20/60
   • x = 3

   Their present ages:-

   • Ram = 5x = 5 × 3 = 15
   • Rahim = 7x = 7 × 3 = 21
   • Robert = 8x = 8 × 3 = 24

   Hence, the present age of Ram is 15 years, Rahim is 21 years and Robert is 24 years.
