Given : Rajiv used 3/4 of a bag of sugar to make cookies. With the sugar he has left over, he will make 3 cakes.

What fraction of the original bag of sugar will he use for each cake ?

    Solution :

    → Left sugar = 1 – (3/4) = (1/4)

    now,

    → with (1/4) sugar Rajiv makes = 3 cakes .

    then,

    → with whole sugar Rajiv make = 4 * 3 = 12 cakes.

    therefore,

→ Sugar required for each cake = (1/12) (Ans.)

Hence, Rajiv used (1/12) fraction of the original bag of sugar for each cake .
