  2. Question

In a class test 4 marks were awarded for every correct answer, 2 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer and no marks are given for not attempting question. Ravi scored 20 marks. If he has got 8 correct answers, how many questions has he attempted incorrectly?

    Stated

    • Total scores he hits is 20 Mark’s
    • He got 8 answers as correct
    • 4 Mark’s were awarded for correct answer
    • 2 Mark’s deducted for every Incorrect ans
    • No points will be given for not attempting

    To Find

    • How many questions he attempted incorrectly

    Solution

⠀In the Question; It is concluded that ravi hits total 20 Marks in the class test and 4 marks are rewarded for every correct answer. If he gets wrong answer then his 2 marks will be deducted from the test. No marks will be given for skipped question, He got 8 answers as correct: So, How many answers he has given wrong? Let’s find out..

    [tex]\:\:\:\:\:\:\twoheadrightarrow[/tex] No. of correct answer = 8

    [tex]\:\:\:\:\:\:\twoheadrightarrow[/tex] For correct answers = 8(4) = 32

    [tex]\:\:\:\:\:\:\twoheadrightarrow[/tex] His total score = 20

    Now

⠀— We have the required marks that he secured in his class test that is 32. But.. Now we have to find the no. of answers that he hit incorrectly

⠀— Let the no. of incorrect answer be x

As, 2 Mark’s will be taken away for Incorrect answer.. So, It should be 2x.

    So, for incorrect answers = 32 – 20 = 12

    [tex]\longrightarrow\sf{\: 2x = 12}[/tex]

    [tex]\longrightarrow\sf{\: x = \dfrac{12}{2}}[/tex]

    [tex]\longrightarrow\underline{\sf{\red{\: x = 6}}}[/tex]

    Final Answer

⠀⠀⠀— Hence, He scored total 32 marks and he got 6 answer as incorrect in his class test
