  1. Given : For school exhibition Ram made a model of rocket with diameter of the base 14 cm, height 10 cm, the conical portion is made of 3 cm height. Ram used yellow coloured sheet for covering the curved surface of the cylindrical part, blue colour for conical part black

    colour for the base and red colour for the fins of the model .

    To Find :

    Area of the yellow colour paper required to cover the portion of the rocket.(use pie =22/7)

    1. 408 cm^2

    2. 308cm^2

    3. 30.8cm^2

    4. 3.08cm^2

    Answer :

    from given data we have,

    • Diameter of Base = 14 cm => Radius = diameter/2 = 7 cm .
    • Height of rocket = 10 cm.
    • Height of conical portion = 3 cm .
    • Height of cylindrical portion = Height of rocket – Height of conical portion = 10 – 3 = 7 cm .
    • Yellow color is used to cover the curved surface of the cylindrical part.

    so,

    → CSA of cylindrical part = 2πrh = 2 * (22/7) * 7 * 7 = 2 * 22 * 7 = 22 * 14 = 308 cm² (2) (Ans.)
