As per condition 1 ie., Sum of the ages of rupnali and Dipali is 34 years.

The equation becomes,

x+y=34 ● 1

As per condition 2 i.e., Rupali is younger than Sonali by 6 years.

The equation becomes,

x – y = 6

x = 6 + y ●

substitution x in eq 1

(6 + y) + y = 34

6 + 2y = 34

2y = 28

y = 14

hence dipali’s age is 14 years

now rupali’s age=

x – y = 6

x – 14 = 6

x = 20

hence dipali’s age is 20 years
