An Educational institution asked its students to choose a place
out of Ladakh and West Bengal for a trekking camp in summer
vacation. 1/5 of the students selected Ladakh, owing to their
bollywood dreams, while ¼ of the students has voted for
Sandakphu in West Bengal, while remaining 110 students opted
out of the trekking camp. Based on this situation
a) Form a linear equation
b) Find the total number of students
c) Represent the ratio of the number of students who opted
out of the trekking camp to the total number of students
on a number line.

  1. Answer:

    let the number of students be x

    students selected fo ladakh=1/5*x

    students selected for west bengal=1/4*x

    remaining fraction = 110

    remaining fraction = x/5+x/4=9x/20-x

    =11x/20

    a/q

    11x/20=110

    x=110*20/11

    x=200
