    let the present age of son is x years

    so present age of father is 4x years

    after 5 years son will be( x+5 )years and father will be (4x+5 )years

    here,

    4x+5=3(x+5)

    => 4x+5=3x+15

    => 4x-3x=15-5

    => x=10

    so, present age of son is 10 years and present age of father is 4×10years=40years
